School Lane Charter School continues to clear the way for its growth spurt in Bensalem Before adding its High School
Among the first charter schools to open in Pennsylvania, School Lane Charter is renovating a township eyesore, the former Cornwells Skating Rink next door to School Lane’s original building. The new school will house the charter’s middle school for 2013-14. When that is done, the skating-rink-turned-middle-school will be able to hold up to 300 sixth- through eighth-graders. The original structure will hold 596 children in grades K through five.
Also, the school continues its search for a home for School Lane’s high school. While the high school was originally slated to open this school year after approval by the Bensalem Township School District in January, School Lane has not found a place to house it.
Additionally, School Lane officials are planning a special 15th anniversary event for sometime in 2013, School Lane CEO and principal Karen Schade said, although that never feel through.

New: School Lane will implement the International Baccalaureate program for middle schoolers. The charter school will expand its online reading skills development program to grades four and five following the success of the 2011-12 pilot.
