The day will honor the achievements of the school’s youngest learners as they prepare to enter first grade, as well as its graduating eighth-grade students as they move on to high school. These ceremonies reflect the school’s commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and transformative educational experiences.
ABOUT JYK DISCOVERY CHARTER SCHOOL
Founded in 2003, Jacquelyn Y. Kelley Discovery Charter School serves 760 students in grades K-8 with a staff of 100 dedicated educators. The school is widely recognized for its innovative, real-world, expedition-based learning model, which gives students opportunities to extend learning far beyond the classroom.
Each year, Discovery’s 5th-grade students trace the Underground Railroad into Canada, while its 8th-grade scholars participate in a capstone international excursion. Previous student travel destinations include Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Thailand, Panama, Costa Rica, and Mexico. In May 2026, the school’s 8th-grade students traveled to Greece.
