A Celebration of Reading: Kindergarten Students Highlight Favorite Books and History in Annual Parade at Jacquelyn Y. Kelley-Discovery Charter School
WHAT:
As the Halloween season arrives, Jacquelyn Y. Kelley-Discovery Charter School is taking an academic approach to the autumn festivities. Instead of a traditional costume party centered around candy, the school is hosting a Kindergarten Character Parade. Kindergarten students will bring literature and history to life by wearing costumes inspired by their favorite storybook and historical figures, introducing attendees to their beloved books and stories.
Discovery strives to instill a profound appreciation for reading at an early age. Research shows that healthy reading habits lay the foundation for lifelong learning, enhance children’s vocabulary and critical thinking skills, expand their imagination, and build the confidence necessary for long-term academic success throughout their educational pathways.
